ஈரம்..

I was Watching the Movie EERAM on Vijay TV (22nd may'11)..Just thought  of Sharing this Review I wrote Long back when the Movie was Released.

A recent movie i saw and amazed at,taking "water" as theme a new crew of totally unknown people in the ocean of kollywood just has done there job "beautifully well" to give one amazing thriller to the cinema lovers.Though the movie is categorized as thriller, it has got all ingredients in it,that one normal cinema should have ,romance, comedy, family sentiments etc etc.. for those who got demented with RGV's typical so called thriller turned comical movies, this would be one best ever counter curse"A FAMILY THRILLER",Ramgopal should learn a lot from this debute crew.Rite from the"name of the apartment" to "The sun signs" the director didn't miss the theme,Hats off to arivazhagan.Shankar ,as a producer should continue encouraging these kind of new concepts. The hero, aadhi as vasu,he is one best fit for the role of Police officer. Nandha,as bala he really thrill the audience with his timed dialogue delivery. He looks totally a different nandha from the one we saw in Mounam paesiyadhae and Punnagaip Poovae. He for sure will go places with his well versed acting skills. Next, the heroine sindhu menon as ramya can a ghost be cute? but she is,both as ghost and as human she look more than pretty.Especially when she comb up tht single strand of hair that will fall on her forehead n her "Only for others" practical nature, she just lives that character.Love the way her character been Portrayed. The trio is really making a good show..Music scored by Thaman of "Boys" fame..Simply rocking he is!..My pick,"Tharai Irangiya paravai  Polavae"...it would be an utter waste if i dont mention about "MANOJ PARAMAHAMSA" cinematographer of this muvee.he is making me question,"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THESE DAYS MAN??!!"...

its so damn true...
a must watch "FAMILY THRILLER" for those masalaphobic eyes.. :))

Azhagarsaami-in kudhirai

A short story when well said will make even the most unassuming person earn some respect on screen! That is the bottomline of Azhagarsami-in kudhirai. Directed by susindhran, this is a indeed a brave attempt. Well, it is the story of a village which is still stuck in 80's even though the world has moved on. The concept of "kuri josiyam" and black magic in general is still prevalent in the most rustic areas. This movie takes a nice dig at all those practices, and gets the audience in splits!

This village in madurai district of Tamilnadu, has not seen a good harvest since the past few seasons. Reason- monsoon failure. The analysts at mallayapuram, seek the divine for help in inviting the rain-gods to their land. The village leaders and the people come to a conclusion that "The azhagar ( the local diety) thiruvizha" would be the possible solution. So the thiruvizha is planned and with all arrangements made, the wooden horse in the temple is stolen. ( This is the azhagarsaami'in vahanam-a temple property) When the search is on, they find a "real" horse in their village, which the villagers believe is the Azhagarsaami Himself! When the owner of the horse appukutty comes into picture, the confusion begins. Finally, the villagers get back their old wooden horse (with the grace of Azhagarsaami of course!) and the other one goes to its real owner appukutty. First half is funny, the second half is a bit drag! Anybody who has seen the typical village movies will know what will happen in the second half.

Isaignani's music sounds just average. The satirical touch to all the superstitious beliefs adds fun to the story also, a message is conveyed in the humor. Finally, the climax- the raingods decide to visit the village when the upper caste marries the lower caste- is quite meaningful. Definitely this is a different movie in the "Now showing" list of cinema halls, this season. Overall, I would give it a 2.5 on a scale of 5. A decent buy for your ticket!
